در واکنش به این ادعا، اسماعیل بقایی سخنگوی وزارت امور خارجه ایران در یک پست در شبکه اجتماعی ایکس نوشت: «اظهارات نادرست و همراه با تهدید به اعمال مجدد تحریم‌ها علیه ایران، این گمان را تقویت می‌کند که موضع انتقادآمیز فرانسه در معرض دگردیسی به نقشی اخلال‌گرانه است. چنین رویکردی قطعاً چیزی به اعتبار فرانسه و جایگاه آن در اروپا و جهان اضافه نخواهد کرد.»
ادعای وزیر خارجه فرانسه به صورت جزئی و بی‌اساس بود و با انگیزه‌های سیاسی صورت گرفته است. این ادعا بر واقعیت‌های فعلی برنامه هسته‌ای ایران نیازمند گزاره‌های جدید و با نشانه و مدرک کافی است.
